Automotive
Bays full, cars moving.
Technicians, service advisors, parts and collision staff for dealerships and independents, plus production, quality and logistics for OEM and tier suppliers.
- 6 functions
- from the service drive and the bays through parts, collision and supplier production
- ASE verified
- certifications and state inspection licences checked before you meet anyone
- Both sides
- retail dealership staffing and OEM and tier supplier production under one contract
Automotive
The technician shortage is real. The rest is fixable.
We staff both halves of automotive: dealership and independent service, parts, collision and support, and the OEM and tier supplier side covering production, quality, logistics and pre delivery inspection.
Retail automotive lives and dies on technician capacity. Every unfilled bay is lost hours that cannot be recovered later, which makes this one of the few industries where speed of hire is worth paying for directly.
On the supplier side the pattern is closer to manufacturing: volume, shift, launch ramps and quality standards, with the same emphasis on shift honesty and certification.
Functions
What we actually recruit for.
Pick one and you get what they actually produce, the seniority we fill, and the tools and standards a screen has to cover.

Diagnostics, repair, maintenance and warranty work, and the flat rate hours a bay is measured on.

The vocabulary
What we verify and recruit against.

An empty bay is lost hours that never come back. That is why automotive is one of the few places where speed of hire pays for itself directly.
Screening
How we screen automotive staff.
Two different screens, honestly applied. Retail technicians are screened on certification and productivity, supplier roles on shift, standards and reliability.
- 01
Certification verified at source
ASE level, state inspection licence, manufacturer training and I-CAR for collision. It determines both what they can work on and what you can bill.
- 02
Productivity established
Flat rate hours produced, efficiency, and the work mix they are actually strong in. Diagnostics and maintenance are different skills.
- 03
Tools and equipment confirmed
Whether they own their tools, what they are missing, and what your shop supplies. It is a real barrier to a start date and is rarely asked about early enough.
- 04
Shift and pay structure explained
Flat rate, hourly or a hybrid, plus Saturdays. Pay structure surprises are the most common cause of a technician leaving within a month.
- 05
A reference from a service or shop manager
Somebody who saw the hours produced and the comeback rate, which is the only quality measure that matters in a bay.
Straight answer
Where the market is actually tight.
What our recruiters see running these searches. Experience rather than a guarantee.
| Role | What the market looks like | Realistic shortlist |
|---|---|---|
| Porters, drivers and detailers | Available in most markets. | Days |
| Supplier production operators | Available. Shift and location decide it, as in manufacturing. | Days to a week |
| Parts counter staff | Steady, though dealer system experience narrows it. | About a week |
| Service advisors | Tight. The combination of customer skill and technical literacy is uncommon. | Two to four weeks |
| Body technicians | Very tight almost everywhere, and getting tighter as the trade ages. | Four to six weeks |
| ASE master technicians | The hardest automotive hire in the market, and heavily counter offered. | Six weeks and up |
For master technicians, pay structure and tool allowance move the market more than the advert does. If a search is stalling, that is almost always where the problem is.
Shapes
Three shapes this usually takes.
Retail and supplier automotive have different rhythms, and we staff both.
Bay and drive cover
Keeping a service department running.
- When it fits
- A technician resignation, a seasonal surge, a recall campaign, holiday cover.
- The arrangement
- Contract or contract-to-hire, because retention matters more than speed alone.
Supplier volume
Production and quality staff at scale.
- When it fits
- A launch ramp, a containment, a new programme, a seasonal build.
- The arrangement
- Temporary and contract at volume, onboarded in groups.
The permanent hire
The people a shop or a plant is built around.
- When it fits
- Master technicians, service managers, quality engineers, supervisors.
- The arrangement
- Direct hire, usually with a frank conversation about pay structure first.
Before you call
What to have ready before you call.
For technicians, the pay structure and the tool position matter more than the job description.
- Flat rate, hourly or hybrid, and what a strong technician actually earns with you
- The work mix: diagnostics, maintenance, warranty, or a blend
- Whether tools are supplied, and any tool allowance
- Certification and state licence requirements
- Saturdays, and how the rota handles them
- For supplier roles, the shift pattern and the standard you are audited against
Questions
Before you call.
Yes, and we verify certification at source. It is the hardest automotive hire in most markets, and we will be honest that it is a six week search rather than promise a fortnight.
Bays standing empty?
Tell us the certification level, the work mix and the pay structure. We will tell you honestly what the market looks like for it.
